Pueblo at a Glance
The city of Pueblo offers a diverse selection of activities and attractions, making
it a favored Southeast Colorado
destination. The Pike
and San
Isabel National Forests surround Pueblo and provide space for hiking, biking,
camping and more. Rafting is another popular local activity, with several companies
in the area taking guests either through white water or on a scenic float down
the Arkansas
River. Lake
Pueblo State Park provides over 60 mi (97 km) of shoreline and is an enjoyable
venue for swimming, boating, fishing and more. As the highest suspension bridge
in the world, the nearby Royal
Gorge Bridge offers visitors spectacular views in addition to an aerial tram,
an incline railway and more. Auto racing fans know this area for Pikes
Peak International Raceway, a track located north of Pueblo near Fountain
used for Nascar competitions and Superbike races from June through September.
